We are at the old square of Kastraki, called Mesochori. One
kilometer from Kalampaka, on the way to Kastraki, opposite "Haram" tavern,
turn right at the sign "To the old quarters". Our guesthouse is within a
kilometer and will make you feel being in another era.
Within
walking distance you'll see the enormous rocks, monasteries, chapels, paths
small woods. Kastraki, the village, lies in the west of Meteora and is
amphitheatrically built among enormous rocks. Uphill in the east part of the
village you will see the old picturesque quarters of the village. Further uphill
you'll see the "Adrachti"
(sprindle), named after its shape. Kastraki is an international attraction for
rock climbers and hikers.
Kastaki is unique for its long tradition in folk culture.
It's a great experience for a visitor to walk in the narrow cobbled streets of
the old part of the village, to visit the chapels and monasteries.
